After being divorced several years, I've decided to revert back to my maiden name. How should I go about this?I've read that I need a copy of my marriage and decree absolu certificates to send out as proof, but I have lost both of these. Should I just pay for a deed poll to save all the hassle? Cheers

I changed my name on here and it has caused a bit of confusion, so I know how you feel.
Yes, do it by deed poll. It doesn't cost much and saves a great deal of trouble.

Just thought though. Won't I need relevent certificates ie marriage/decree etc to obtain deed poll?
No, just email the editor and tell him you want to change your name. You have to derigister and then re-register under your new name.
you can use whatever name is on your birthcertificate or mariage certificate (or death certificate if u know joss weedon) legally, i use my maiden name and my married name for the electoral roll but i will answer to maid when pressed

Here is an explanation by a firm which provides the necessary forms over the web. You do not need anything other than the appropriate form. If you decide to do it by Statutory Declaration rather than Deed Poll then buy the form from someone like this firm, fill it in yourself, then pop into any solicitor who will charge you 5 to witness it and make it legal.

Just out of interest, Se7en, what was your old name and why did you change it?
It was DMA, but i was temp barred for cupple of days for answering 2 many times too quick, till they investigated whether I was spam and had to reregister in meantime, then allowed back with orig registry so now deregistered DMA.
