same name, different pub. the one i referred to is the one that used to be in wealdstone high street (I now gather it was converted to flats).
Talking of pub names..............

Far be it for me to contradict m'colleague Prof Peter Pedant, but the Elephant and Castle has nothing to do with the Infanta of Castile.

It refers to the insignia of the Worshipful company of Cutlers. There was (is?) a pub in Newington called the Elephant and Castle which bears the Company's insignia. The area was (allegedly) named after that.
//After he retired from hanging people, Albert Pierrepoint rang a pub called "Help the Poor Struggler" in Oldham.//

If the movie was factual he was running a pub whilst still performing that admirable function & hung one of his customers/mates who had murdered an ex-girlfriend.

Not The Last Drop then.
The Black Boy pub in Black Boy Lane, Tottenham had a picture of a black horse on it. The council are still prevaricating on whether to change the name of the road, as although a majority of residents in the borough wanted it changed, a majority of residents actually living there didn't.
