What would you say are the most ridiculous chavvy Christian names you hear mothers or fathers shout at their kids these days - You know the sort of thing - Chelsea,Britney,etc.....- Not saying that these are chavvy names mind you,but you get the jist of what I am getting at !

Mind you, 50 + years ago I went to school with a girl called Mimi Darling!
Most days on my bus, there is a lady who shouts a lot at a kid in a pushchair called Lambrini. They're going to have issues.

Love the 'Yvonne' one!
My favourite was Storm.
Rejjae (like Reggie but with an "ay" sound instead of the "ie")

Going off at a tangent - when I was at school, there was a girl in my class called 'Olive Mole' .

Sorry Olive!

We had a girl at school called Lettuce.
Need I say more !!
While we are at it what's the fascination with taking a normal name and then trying to find new and amusing ways miss spelling it. I've seen Kolin, Gackie, Gacque etc etc

Lambrini?!! Surely not?! Presumably a tribute to the substance that indirectly brought about the child's existence?!

Years ago someone I know with the surname of Whaler named their child Ailia

My kids have friends called Jordan & Emilio

there is a little girl at my daughter's preschool called Kelis. Now it is not said how you might suppose, but pronounced Kell -eese. WHich reminds me of a certina type of training shoe.

However, when I was teaching, there were two children in the school called Sarah and Daniel. When their parents went through some kind of life changing experience when away on holiday in the US and they came home and changed their children's names to Shania-river and Apache-George.... There was a big sign up on the staff room notice board and everything......

I have to admit to being called Mimi in real life, but it is short for something less nice and I do have a normal surname.

However, I have to admit to having slightly chavvy children's names for which there are very good reasons, one of my daughters is called Ernestine (after a very dear Grandpa called Ernest) and my youngest is called Tifaine (pronounced Tiffany) after my dear sister who cared for me throughout a very difficult pregnancy and frightening labour.

But, I don't have the accent though, am I redeemed?

Metz - my brother's name is Jordan and he is 20 - that's not exactly new and chavvy!

Mimi - Kelis (pronounced how yu said it) is a singer.

See piccie on this link.

Sorry Mimi. It was the combination of Mimi and Darling that just wasn't very good - that combined with the fact that she had a very doting mother who decked her out in loads of ribbons and bows every day. She looked rather like a rather chubby French Poodle.

Natalie pipped me to the post.....

Metz - My friend's son is also called Jordan & it's not a chavvy name. Were you thinking of the busty female model's stage name?

Emilio & Emillio are Italian names, so wouldn't class them as chavvy either.

Nice one Nev - you give good thread!

I've heard of a a girl called Cadillac Alexis SnowWhite. And, to change the tack slightly, some mean parents - surname Card - called their son Valentine. That's not made up, I promise!

I remember when I was in my final year at school many moons ago a girl in my year caused a great scandel by becoming pregnant, and to top it all off she named the unfortunate child Cherish after the Kool and the Gang's song, as it was her boyfriends and hers special tooooon!!!!

A lot of them have names which used to be surnames - most common seem to be Brandon, Jordan, Jackson (seen it spelt Jaxson), Chester, Grant, Mitchell (no connection between these two!).

Went to school with twin boys called Romulus and Remus and they had an older sister called Helen.

Heard a mum call her daughter Andy - Andy duly ignored mum, to be called again 'Andromeda, get here now'
