What would you say are the most ridiculous chavvy Christian names you hear mothers or fathers shout at their kids these days - You know the sort of thing - Chelsea,Britney,etc.....- Not saying that these are chavvy names mind you,but you get the jist of what I am getting at !

It's based in the US, where parents seem to be a bit more, er, imaginitive than they are here.

I've no particular objection to surnames being used as first names, or names from the Bible, or names from mythology - nobody would object to a child being called Diana, so why object to Andromeda. And do you think Winston Churchill was teased about his first name?

There was a famous Wayne at the last school I taught at, no points for guessing who he is. One of his friends was called Jo White, so his parents called their first girl, Snow. Donna Marie seemed to be a popular one in the 1980's when we grew up in Liverpool. Sounds amazing shouted down the street:

"Donna Marie, gerrin ye tees on de table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

i heard some woman calling 'j-lo' at her kid and another called Keegan (in Newcastle in the late 90's) crazy chavs
In the children's photo pages of a local paper there was a wee girl called Pocahontas!
My sister used to work with someone who had relatives who called their kids Elvis-Ken (always used together) and Swilley!
Craze! some poor little baby in the north east

I am an American in America, and I used to work in the inner city. I actually knew two girls named Sparkle Bacon and Special Perry. (Bacon and Perry being their surnames.)

I am a teacher, so I come across plenty of names. One interesting trend here is the use of surname-sounding names, often ending in -son for the Christian names of Taiwanese-American boys. I have known many children with names such as Harrison, Jefferson, etc. And right now, I have a student named Dehowe.

I also have an Alvie, a Janaya, and a Bryonna.

Worst I've ever heard was Clayton-Armani. Clayton is an area where I live so I bet the poor boy's going to have fun at school.

Britney must take the biscuit!

The trouble we have though is that names like Mercedes, Porsche and Chardonnay were being used by the rich and famous for years and now they're having to come up with even more outrageous names!!

.......but

"Britney if you don't put that down I'm gonna kick your head in"

being said to her by her 16 year old mother at the checkout has to win hands down!

i dont know about chavvy, but i know a family who has named her boys:-

Shinqwah (i do not actually know how you spell it but it is pronounced shin-eek-wah)

Aaliyah, Makenzie, Mason, Madison, Carlton, Carson, Regan, Teegan, Savannah, Makenna... oh the list could go on

Just seen an article in the paper where a girl was called Porsche-Mercedes
i actually like a lot of charva names like krystal and tegan they are just beginning to be a bit common i have now got three daughters, chloe rae , olivia lily and erin may.
