what was he doing in the bathroom?

Every time my new bf takes me on a date to a restaurant he does the same thing. After we are first seated; he looks uncomfortable and then he excuses himself to go the the bathroom. He's usually gone for about 10 minutes. When he comes back to the table it looks like he's either been sweating or run tap water through the front of his hair. And he does this everytime! What do you think he's doing in there?

I'm getting the image of Ben Stiller in "somethin about Mary" (esp when you mention his hair being wet at the front) I know it was before the date but still makes me laugh

Coke, choking the chicken and IBS all spring to mind. But you won't know if you don't ask.

Why dont you simply ask him? If he's not doing anything wrong he will probably laugh, say he didnt realise and give you a genuine sane answer. If he gets really funny and flustered then its one of the previous suggestions in this thread!!

your post has jogged some memories and I've been trying to remember who I knew that used to do that exact thing!

I think if he has slicked back hair and no money for product, maybe he uses the water to fix his hair? If he does this everytime he goes to the bathroom maybe its part of his cleaning/primping ritual? Hell, at least he's washing his hands!

But if he only does it at the beginning of the evening and he looks uncomfortable beforehand, he's probably doing a quick line and he wets his face because of that sudden rush feeling and his fear of being caught out.

having a wafty crank or drugs is easy to suggest.

BUT if he suffers from heat like most men then he is simply going off to mop the brow and in doing so is getting more paranoid about it and coming back in worse off.

If it is winter he is ******* or using a glory hole

Get a couple drinks in ya and just ask him. Ten minutes is a long time though to be in the bathroom. What kind of drugs would he be doing that would take 10 minutes? And why wouldn't he just do the drugs before he goes out? Maybe its just irritable bowl syndrome? does he ever go after he's done eating?

is he diabetic?

looking at a menu he might need to uptake his insulin,if its sugar

Think Eileen could be onto something. Most younger people with diabetes use short acting insulin which needs to be injected just before eating. Its a lifestyle choice for busy people who dont eat at regular times.I cant imagine he would want to do inject it in middle of restuarant.

I dont think drugs is an obvious answer as Im sure you would be able to tell.

Masturbation is equally as unlikely unless he has a sexual fetish for restaurants.

Just ask him, there has been such a variety of answers here your mind will be racing next time you go out!!

it's a long shot but it could be a mild form of OCD, some folk wash there hands lots when nervous - could be a connection with sitting in restaurants, just ask him about it - he's only human after all, a problem shared is a problem halved ;)
I rather like the idea of a 10 minute fart!
Its a well know fact that if a man "relieves" himself before a night out. He'll last longer when it comes down to the "deed". Maybe hes only perparing himself for a good night.... I'd suggest you just ask him though, ive done wierd things when ive started going out with a new girl/woman. Maybe he's just nervous!
drugs and onanism don't really make much sense - why wait till he's at the restaurant? Diabetes shouldn't take 10 minutes to deal with; IBS might, but you wouldn't expect it to happen regularly at the same time for each meal. I think you're just going to have to ask him buzzie... and report back, now you've got everyone interested.
Could be the obvious, maybe he just goes for a ****.
sh*t
Tell me about it Dom, I took my wife to dinner last saturday, and was dying to fart. I had a sweaty forehead too, come to think of it.

After that dinner I made myself a promise. I'll never hold in a fart again.

One of my family has diabetes and it takes her less than 20 seconds to inject herself (and she does it through her clothes). I think it sounds like extreme nervousness - some people get diarrhoea in these situations and that could well take 10 minutes, it would also explain the 'looking uncomfortable' as it can produce cramps in the stomach. Ask him though - dying to know now!!

Your situation sounds quite annoying. Firstly ask him on his return from the bathroom if he feels comfortable in the environment you are both in. Secondly, ask him why does he chooses to go to the bathroom for so long.
If he's taking you out for the evening and spending 10 mins in the bathroom, it just doesn't seem right. only you can find the answers by questioning him and at the same time show him he can trust you with anything that you share.
My first thought about your question was that maybe he is on drugs, now maybe this is not true. Some people actually have a phobia about eating in front of other people and get tense.
I think it's up to you to ask him outright and expect nothing but the truth. If you feel he's lying to you then is it worth you being with him in this relationship? .Go with your gut instinct Buzzie and good luck

buzzie03, sorry to be nosey, but did you find out what he was doing!?

Just curious to know if he did tell you or not.

i would say, from personal experience, probably nerves
Why don't you get a male friend to go to the same pub/restaurant as you and your new boyfriend, but have him sit on a seperate table. When your fella goes to the toilet, your mate, who has been keeping an eye on you both, conveniently goes to the toilet at the same time and finds out what he's doing?
