I have the luck to have both the citys rat race to work and the peace of the country to live.

I prefer city for day life and country for evening so I have got it just right!

Although it is 60 miles a day for the pleasure.

I live in a village in the country which suits me fine, we've got fields in front and behind our house yet there are a few shops and a couple of pubs within walking distance. However I could see myself in another life living in New York!
I'm definitely a country bumpkin. Did the city thing for 4 years while at Uni, didn't like it much. Now back living in a tiny village where everyone knows everyone else. That said, Edinburgh is only 30mins away, which is more than close enough.
I'm a towny but am at that age now where a place in the country is my ideal, alas, cant see it happening unless i win some BIG money!!!
I may be a bit greedy, but I would like to have the best of both worlds. I would like to live in the city to take advantage of social aspects, better public transport etc, less commuting but if I could ever afford to (highly unlikely though) I would also like a place in the country where I could escape to at the weekends etc
fortunately i live 10 minutes from a city and the same distance from proper countryside. the main thing for me is to live by the sea. Having moved away for a while that was the one big thing i missed. Glad to be back!
Living in South Wales I have the best of both worlds but deep down I'm a towny but it is great to get away from it all now and again, I can be in the Brecon Beacons within 20 minutes, The Forest of Dean 30 minutes and Cardiff Bay within 15 minutes.
I'd like to live within a bus journey of the city, but ideally i would love to live in the country. Saying that, if i could drive, it wouldn't be a problem. I live about 2 miles from the city centre now and yearn for lovely countryside walks with my son. There are plenty of advantages of living near the city though. I wouldn't like to feel cut off and lik,e to be fairly near a supermarket etc. Pros and cons on both sides.
Oh give me the peace and quiet of the countryside anytime.Although its quiet where live We're approx 10 by car from our city centre, Cardiff and its gets so hectic especially when there's a footie or rugby match at the Millenium Stadium, not to mention the endless concerts. We can hear the roar of the crowds from our houses plus the music. Then we have Cardiff Bay with yet more concerst and opera halls plus the new theatre. How we love to take a drive into the welsh countryside, the forests of Dean etc..bliss.
Correction...Concerts..duh
Pros and cons..We retired and moved back to the coast getting on for four years ago. We have been around the world a bit and spent the last twenty years prior to selling up and moving to Norfolk in London. We are now living where I grew up as a child until the age of eleven until we moved south.I have spent most of my life in towns and cities and find the sticks a bit boring .! Although we have the best of both worlds ..sea ten minutes walk away..countryside just down the road .I can always hop on the train to London or Norwich for a buzz so mustn't grumble .
I suppose at heart I"m a townie.

do you live in Newport Allen? St mellons maybe?

I live in an old lancashire pit village, kick one 12 limp, but my heart is in the pennines where I was born and where I would move tomorrow if I had half a million.

I am somewhere in between.

I have lived in London for severaral years, and have lived in a small village.
Both had it's advantages and disadvantages.

Now, especially with a baby on the way, I would definitely not like to live in a big city, but I do not want to give up local stores and pubs, either.

I would like to become a city dweller and we probably will when the kids leave home. As many of you have read Mr Sense is a Chelsea fan so this limits where in London we can settle.

I may have a requirement too many myself - as I would still need to see a bit of greenery and have access to an outside space. What I would really like though is to find an Apartment like Brontes' in Green Card, but hey who wouldn't.

I tend to live in small towns/villages which is picturesque and has loads of lovely walks, so I guess that makes me a country bumpkin. But it has to be a stone's throw from a lively town!
