What's the difference between Delia Smith and jogger?

one's a pant in the country.

It would mean we are amused by different things, but it would't make me see you as a bad person.
they can be offensive because some jokes are deliberately meant to be.

most aren't though and i think some people are over sensitive

it would take a lot to offend me

the only joke i have ever heard that made me be very careful about telling anyone it is this - (and i would warn them first that it was a bit iffy)

why didn't superman save the twin towers?

because he couldn't get out of his wheelchair...

...mmmm..

its a double whammy so you see how that could offend some people can't you?

i don't think it is particularly funny but i have heard people roar with laughter and others tut.

Like Dotty's answer. I suppose how you percieve a joke is in the eye of the beholder. I have a pretty grim sense of humour, but mean no malice wahtsoever. It depends a lot on the recipients mood at the time too.

Depends on the situation and who it's coming from.

Most jokes told in English pubs do not relate to healthy, white Englishmen with a C of E, or agnostic background, so I wouldn't expect many English people to take offence at many of the jokes told. However, put an Englishman in a French, Arabic or Australian background for a year or two and his opinion about the offensiveness of certain jokes may well change.
I should have added that your opinion can change when you find yourself the butt of jokes over a prolonged period of time. This comes from an overly tall, red haired woman who had a weight problem at school.
English, white, middle class joke required then? Whats the difference between a range rover and a hedgehog? The hedgehog has pricks on the outside.
