Where to go/should i stay?

Hi guys

I have two options: stay in london and receive 24000 a year or move to leeds and receive 17500 a year (the same job). does anyone know which other attributes/facts I should take into account?

London's more expensive, hence the higher wages; but that's for an 'average' cost of living; you might like to tally up your expenses - which may differ from average ones - and see what effect it might have on you. Apart from that, London has a lot more to offer culturally and historically than Leeds (no offence intended to Leedsites, but London is a great world city), as well as far more job opportunities, should you wish to change jobs again at any stage. Again, though, you need to consider whether these prospects interest you. If you never go to art galleries, for instance, the fact that London has lots of them will be of no importance to you.

meant to add: London is big and, unless you live close to your work, you can take up a lot of your day just commuting or getting around; this is much less of a problem in Leeds. But if you live above the shop, it won't be a problem even in London.

I've got friends who moved from London to Leeds in a similar venture and they love it, though they bought an old property outside the city in Pudsey. (Much cheaper housing than London). Leeds is growing and vibrant and even has a Harvey Nicholls these days. Sometimes, they travel to Manchester for a night out if they have got bored with the local scene. It's not all flat caps, mills and Tetley tea folk these days.

Most people I know who stayed in London to work are desperately trying to get out now. Advantage if you buy property in London, sets you up at a later date for moving elsewhere. I come from the New Forest but I've lived in London and now live back in the Forest - no contest ,the Forest everytime for quality of life. London great to visit or to stay in for a while but permanantly no way! You may not want to hear this, but money isn't always everything - and long term quality of life is better.
