Looking for people

Can anyone tell me the right way to look for people-A friend has given me the name and DOB of his dad, who he has not seen since he was 8 (he's now 36!). He's also Italian. What would be the right way to go about trying to track him down? Thanx

if he lived in the uk for a long period of time you could have a look on the electoral role to start. you can find the electoral role in the library.
