Why do women watch boxing matches? I thought women didn't like violence, or do they actually enjoy watching 2 men having a punch-up?

As humans we have not evolved to chase a ball, our physical attributes have not been honed to push pedals, men are designed to hunt and fight and this sport captures that. i'm not going to deny that there is a pleasure in watching men fight and that their power and skill is attractive, but overall, it is that fighting is the ultimate sport, anything else is artificial.
Thanks for that treaclefight, you've confirmed what I always thought, women love to watch a punch-up, no matter what they might say about "not liking violence"
A women friend of mine once said to me "I don't like violence" and then went on to say "I like fights, but not real fights!" whatever that mean't!!

lol einstein, i just meant that primarily we evolved for purposes other than kicking a ball, which is quite a sophisticated activity when you considered the whole team thing and fans and loyalty...and i seem to be defeating my own argument as that all sounds rather tribal and basic too, maybe all sport is to some degree, but i'm going to stand by my statement of fighting being the purest form of sport,
When my friend said that she liked fights but not real fights, I imagine she mean't "competition fights" like cage combat. Another example I can think of is, she goes to the Gym a lot and if there was a couple of blokes in the Gym who had a disageement about how much weight they could each lift, or who was the strongest and it was obvious that they were showing off in front of her, then the simplest way to sort this disagreement out, would be with a fight and what better place then the Gym She's quite competitive, so I'd imagine that she'd quite enjoy it. But in no way am I condoning violence, this would be a fair fight in a controlled environment and she would be able to judge who the stongest man was - argument settled!
