Has answerbank turned into a chatroom rather than a useful reference source. Its full of self-referential questions and low level trivia quiz queries.

Ask a serious question and I am sure you will get a serious answer......ask a question like "pile of pants?" and expect to get some flak. I first came to AB because I had a serious question, but since then, I come back daily to see if there are any serious questions that I can answer, but also because I like to see what all of the other users think/feel/experience....I don't think it is like a chatroom as such, but there is a certain degree of familiarity and camaraderie that I enjoy. I'm sure it's not my imagination, but you seem to enjoy it at times too!

Oh do dry up would you? You're happy enough to play along and give stupid answers (remember your recent kipper fascination?) when it suits you but no-one else is allowed to ask any of their own silly questions.......and as Mr. Tarrant says a question is only easy if you know the answer!

You don't have to chat or respond to questions it's nice to just troll through sometimes I have had some questions answered that I could'nt find anywhere else and they are usually explained from personal experience which is the best source

All answerbank has ever been is a symposium of attention seekers and we like it that way, nothing's changed, and those who pretend there here seeking the truth and answers to quaint questions well that's valid too. It is what it is, a successful mix of cyberness. There's even room for those who would spoil it, and if it ever does spoil.. well then where will you go? to newsgroups and chatrooms. Well AB is a wee bit above that and tolerant and post moderated so say what you want, cos you will anyway. p.s. I vote jorton as the most ABish kind of person, to wit: wit and egocentricism, oh, after me that is :-)
