cornwall town/village names begin with

hello folks Darth is back from holidaying in sunny Cornwall (cor blimey weren't it 'ot?) - first question back from holiday is why are there so many villages around Bodmin area and Cornwall in general, that begin with Tre... ? and what does the Tre signify?
