It is a 'quality' standard for Organizations that Produce, Install, and Service Products.

.

What thet means is they have to document what they do and demonstrate that they do what they have said they do in the document. But they decide what 'quality' is and how it is measured/defined

.

As someone who worked for a company that went through gaining ISO 9000 I have no confidence that a company with ISO 9000 is any better than one that has not.

PS - see http://praxiom.com/iso-9002-1994a.htm for a description
Totally agree with Pinotage. The fact a company is ISO accredited is not a particular sign of quailty.
