1799 At the turn of the century Maharaja Ranjit Singh (Shere-e-Punjab) liquidates the misls and forges a unified kingdom. His empire comprises the whole of Punjab, Multan, Kashmir, Khangra and other regions. He is a great warrior. Even the British (which rule in the rest of India) dare not attack Punjab. During his reign, the Khalsa rules over this vast region in a most peaceful and honourable manner. Ranjit Singh's government and army is very cosmopolitan. also see this site http://www.sikh-history.com/sikhhist/warriors/ranjit1.html jen
