Had to laugh at the train thing, not often I get up to London Village but it amuses me when almost all people avoid eye contact on the tube, it's quite a good game to play to pass the time!

To answer the question, I'm in Cornwall, so round here everyone is from "Up North"!  Do seem to prefer northerners tho.

I'm originally from London and have lived there for a very long time. Up until recently I've was of the opinion that South was far better than the grotty North..........until I actually visited a few places up there:) Admittedly I haven't been to loads of Northern cities (only Nottingham, Loughborough, Manchester, Derby, Barrow??!), but from what I've experienced I have to say I totally agree with cardboard. In that the people are really friendly, there's hardly any snobbishness (is that a word?) and the girls are easier.

I would love to live up north for the reasons stated above, but unfortunately, the jobs are down here.

As a proper northerner, I do not agree that half those cities on Ahmed's list are actually northern! Certainly not Nottingham or Loughborough- they're Midlands territory, which is not north to me!

My stance is I love the north but as I do a lot of travelling with my job I have seen really nice places down south. I hate London but that is just a personal opinion and can imagine that a lot of Southerners would hate Manchester. I would not say southerners are unfriendly, but would say they are more materialistic generally. But a northern sense of humour is hard to beat!

I wonder whether we'll get someone on here from the Shetland islands saying that places such as Glasgow/Newcastle/York are southern?

Wind your neck in ahmed. Theres two kinds of questions on the answerbank really, serious ones and light-hearted ones, and this is definatly one of the light-hearted ones, so loosen up a bit. I dont think you were being persecuted, she was just offering an opinion. Personally i think the north-south divide is scotch corner....
