I'm from Manchester but live in London at the moment. I love going home! But if I lived there all the time I wouldn't like it so much, I guess. I reckon I'll settle down back up north though, I definitely couldn't live in London forever. And I definitely prefer the northern sense of humour. Southerners don't get me!
im a member of a skittle team in north devon,we have players  from manchester ,liverpool, london and of course the locals.they all said they would never go back home.and yes we all enjoy eachothers sense of humour!!
Currently living in the North, lived most of my life in the South.  Both have good & bad points.  I really like where I live now but I am surrounded by places I hate.  Same with the people - I've met nice & not-so-nice people in both places.

Only thing I would say is that when I lived in the South no-one ever brought up the North-South divide thang.  Up North its permanently on the agenda.

Im originally from the north, and living down south, and the North is definatly better. The people are alot friendlier up north, and there seems to be a better attitude towards life too
I know what you mean about the sense of humour georgit, most southerners just dont have any. Also alot of southerners base too much on material posessions, ie wont talk to you because you havent got loads of money, drive a bmw etc. Or it could be the 10 pints of stella putting them off.....
Cardboard , if you feel the North is better and we in the South base things on material possessions and we don't have a scene of humour then why don't you go back north, Im sure most southerners wont miss you and your sense of humour

Where does South end and North begin? I am trying to work out where I fit in now.  I am originally from London and I am friendly and hopefully have a sense of humour.

Personally, I think there are good and bad everywhere.  It's about time that this North/South divide issue died a death.

However, I agree with stoo-pid.  The issue only seems to be raised by Northerners.

ICEMANSAV.  What are your feelings on this?
i thought it was Watford that split the north and the south
Donkey, I would move back up north but its so great down here. I love getting on a train where everyones too scared to talk to each other, and people look at you like you're a mugger if you try and strike up a conversation with a stranger. Its really annoying up north when you go into a shop and can have a ten minute conversation with the assistant about the weather or football.

Cardboard.  Try and remember though that most people living and working in London these days are not actually true Londoners.  Probably loads of the people you are coming into contact with are just like you - from the North.  True Londoners are really very friendly people and very rarely seen in London these days.

Also, please don't confuse 'friendliness' with 'nosiness'

Donkey, I think cardboard was being tongue-in-cheek...at least I hope he was! Will you keep me?

Funny you should say that cardboard - I've just got stuck for 10 minutes behind some old biddy & the woman behind the counter in the sandwich shop, while they discussed the weather & young people these days.  Friendly? Rude? You decide...

georgeit you may stay, put your feet up and have a cup of tea

Thankyou very much, Donkey. By the way, are you hung like a ....?

Sorry, don't know where that came from!

Is he hung like a.....? ....shandy drinking southern puff? Yes, I believe he is. That was a joke too.
well north for the weather, but not for the midges
Georgit, you're right, I was being tongue in cheek. Fakeplastic, you're right too, Im sure most Londoners are really nice people (I actually live and work a bit further south though). However, I can only base my opinions on what I actually see
Georgeit answer to your question Yes. Cardbaord i can see why your sense of humour does not fit in down here. it is very poor and im glad that we dont find it funny, i would be more worried if you said everyone loves your sense of humour down here.
Sorry mate, it was bit poor but I am canny hungover. But how about we have a 'joke off', where we fuzz jokes on a thread and other people vote for how funny they are? I reckon I'll win...
