I know someone who is highly qualified but stuck in a low paid job they hate but refuse to relocate to another part of the country in order secure a better job and standard of living. Why do some people refuse to move away from where they were born and bred even when they have no ties? I find it annoying when he complains about his job but wont move! Why not? Are there others on here with the same mentallity?

dave......I would always follow the money......always...........that is just me..............material things are important to me.
you dont say how old your mate is or f he is married or not it makes a difference
We are all different. It's his life and his choice
Some choices are better than others...
Depends where you live. If you live in an urban area you have to have material things to make it nice (better part of town, no chavvy neighbours etc) but if you live somewhere beautiful, material things don`t matter so much.
A neighbour is just back from London where she worked for a year. A studio flat (a bedsit?) cost more than the mortgage for her 3 bedroom house here.
You might get better money if you move, but you could also pay a lot more for transport, entertainment, or accommodation.
It is a case of "the bird in the hand is better than two in the bush".
Can anyone really be sure of getting a better job these days ?
