Why Respect Authority?

Respect for authority does not always come easily to us. Do you sometimes find it difficult to respect those who have a measure of authority over you? If so, you are not alone in this struggle. We live at a time when respect for authority seems to be at an all-time low. Yet, the Bible says that we need to show respect for those who hold positions of authority over us.

Well even though free of responsibility for the start of human suffering, why has God not brought it to an end before now? His reason for waiting until our day is one that reveals, not an uncaring attitude, but real care for mankind’s everlasting good. What is that reason you should know.

I'm sure we should know but since it has plagued almost every philosopher and theologian since the middle ages I don't feel to bad about my ignorance

I presume you mean God is free of responsibility for the start of human suffering? How so? If he's omniscient, then he knew before he began his creation that it would all go wrong. It must have been part of the plan and therefore he is wholly responsible. If the result of his work upsets him so much, one has to question why he didn't design a better blueprint.

So its OK just to accept all this suffering in Gods name etc, One day we shall appreciate it.

Thank goodness, I must admit to feeling a little uneasy about a few aspects of Christianity at times.

Hi Bobbisox, If Elderman is hoping to convert people and maybe even recruit he will need to try a lot harder. I think he would even turn away and confuse those looking for a faith as he talks such nonsense.
