Divorce

The daily mail newspaper has been running articles citing the high divorce rate in Britain, and the fallout if you like, particularly where children are concerned. Do you think that the laws should be tightened, and mediators, counsellors should be involved when couples are planning to divorce. The suggestion from the law lords is that the laws are too lax, lenient towards couples wanting to divorce. Would you agree, or have an opinion either way.

sorry but totally disagree, total disintegration of our society wasn't because of a relaxed divorce law, but a whole raft of things.
Had my folks stayed married, she would have been found dead of that i am sure. He would have seen to it eventually, and any one of us kids
may not have been far behind.
An awful lot of people were unhappy who stayed together for the sake of their children. often making them fearful, and afraid of relationships as they got older, because of the atmosphere and what they witnessed with their parents unhappiness. Children are not stupid and pick up on the tiniest thing, so if your relationship is going t**s up then sure as eggs are eggs so are the children.

Em, I know another couple who split because the wife fell out of love with the husband and was very unhappy. No arguments. She walked away with just one box of personal possessions, leaving him everything, including the house. I asked her why, and she simply said 'He hasn't done anything wrong'.
Having said that, I know several that haven't ended amicably.

It's difficult to generalise about these things because everyone's circumstances are different, but if a marriage isn't working it's best to end it.
Marriage for Marriages sake is pointless. It doesn't do children any good to live in a toxic situation with miserable parents who don't want to be together.
