Nostradamus foretold of an ultimate major war of East vs West. With the recent uprisings and now this anti islam film, is the time right for someone to sweep in and unite the muslim world to band together to defeat the freedom lovers?

East versus West is an oversimplification, I can't help thinking that the biggest and most ruthless potental enemy of Islam is The Peoples (communist) Republic of China. At least islam and chrisianity believe in the same god. It also depends on who has got what somebody else wants. If China's growth continues it will soon be big enough to take what it wants.
(and look at the current Tokyo to Beijing tensions, manifesting themselves with government sponsored violence against Japanese institutions in China, a story being relegated because of this fascination on tits).
DT, are you implying that kate's t1ts are bigger than China?
oh absolutely, far bigger than a panda's but her nipples are darker.....
they are bigger than ginger nadgers
are you a freedom lover floba ?
No-one can see the future, fortunately for us, and Nostradamus was a charlatan the same as any other person who claims to be able to see what is ahead. People were more gullible in those days although, judging by some posters it makes me wonder. By the look of it gullibility has not gone out of fashion.
Is Gin Ger Nadgers the new Premier of China, bibble? Better name than "Who"?
no lawsuits when ginge and his chipolata were on the front pages the other week

He also predicted that the next pope after the present one would be the last, so what do you make of that?
err, he was wrong again?

Flob, you ask some thought-provoking questions - but, contrary to popular belief, the world of Islam is seriously divided - and it's highly unlikely it will ever unite.
The trouble with Nostradamus was that he wriote in a very difficult form of mediaeval French. He used words which nobody can translate, because there weren't any dictionaries then. When he uses a word which nobody else has ever writtten down, nobody can know what he meant by it, so everybody guesses something different.
If I write " there will be a blurjogk" and in 100 years someone tries to guess what I meant by that, there won't be an answer. Nor will there be any answer to the Nostradamus problem, unless we find lots more manuscripts using the same obscure language which he used. Modern translators have to guess too much, and are bound to choose words which they think are meaningful, but which are probably quite wrong.
Question Author
I don't know the exact quatrain as I haven't looked at the book in ages, I just remember reading that one. I might search it out tonight.
Based upon what I have read, it seems very clear that much of his alleged abilities to predict the future are more down to selective interpretation of his original commentary.

I think it was Methyl who suggested that quatrain 1-87 "predicted" the twin towers attack on 9/11.

But the actual english translation of quatrain 1-87 reads as follows;
Volcanic fire from the center of the earth
will cause trembling around the new city:
Two great rocks will make war for a long time.
Then Arethusa will redden a new river.

So what some "interpreters" have done, in order to further their own slant and in a desire to show how accurate nostradamus is, have to chosen rather imaginative translations of the original.So, this is how the above verse is selectively "translated" to represent the "nostradamus was amazingly accurate!" agenda;

Enormous-promontories on fire in the center of the mainland,
Will cause trembling in the towers of the City of New York
Two great rock-monoliths continuously shall be attacked,
This is when air-vessels will turn-around to a new course.

And then of course, my own personal favourite, that Nostradamus had predicted the coming of Louis Pasteur;

This is the straightforward french- english translation for quatrain 1-25;
Lost, found, hidden for so long a time,
the pastor will be honored as a demigod:
Before the Moon finishes its full period
he will be dishonored by other winds.

And this is the translation the "nostradamus was amazingly accurate"! crowd peddle;
The unseen is discovered, hidden for such a long time,
He will, Pasteur, as a demi-God be honored;
This is when the moon completes her great cycle (1880's)
But through other's slanders, he will be dishonored.

Of course, they conveniently forget to tell you that the french word for "Pastor" is "Pasteur" ; They also forget to mention that, apart perhaps for the notion that the word "Hister" means "Hitler", Nostradamus did not mention names.

Below is a link to a site offering a more objective french - english translation, as well as links to the original french.

Nostradamus just put into his rhymes the same information he read in the Bible...He was smart enough to see that Revelation was telling us our future...which i still does...if only we are humble enough to look.
As to the quatrain by ' lazygun..."Volcanic fire from the center of the earth
will cause trembling around the new city:
Two great rocks will make war for a long time.
Then Arethusa will redden a new river.
This could refer to the war between Satan and Jehovah God and Jesus...taken from Revelation..chapter 12 verses 7-9 and 12...
...war broke out in heaven....
