What's war got to do with it?

I suppose those Countries populations that never agreed to be dictated to and never had a vote and all the current bankrupt member states to start with.

No one said they wanted to live under a totalitarian communist dictatorship. Do you think this is the way forward then?
No. Controlling, yes, too much in my opinion - but if you think the EU will ever replace the old Soviet Union, you do not know the old Soviet Union.

There may be similarities but there would need to be a lot of change to get to something really comparable. We are not being treated today anything like the Soviet people were treated in times past. Not saying change can not occur, continually surprised at some things that happen, but it doesn't look likely at the moment. We still can exit just as long as politicians listen to the people, our inability to leave at the moment is just down to fear by our own politicians and not a threat of violence for trying, by some EU military force.

I despair
Why?

A loss of identity, Sovereignty, history and culture. Do you have something funny to say?
Things do change over period of time. Deserts become oceans and oceans turn into deserts, same like that people's minds and way of thinking does change as well.
not European war, war between the west and the East, yes i can see that happening.
The next world war will probably be between the USA and China. The Americans will probably look for a casus belli before the Chinese military grow as strong as their economy is. Otherwise it would be too late.
You are overly concerned Bloomy. Sure many off us would like to leave an EU we never asked to join, and many of the reasons stated form part of the deisre to do so, but you are reacting as if it were already a Soviet style dictatorship, and it is far off that at present. Are you suffering from depression maybe ?
you've lost your sovereignty and culture to the USA, not to Europe. That's why you rush to see Bruce Willis films rather than French ones, and why you rush into war in Iraq.
It seems Bloomy isn't able to respond at present.
There may be some countries that choose to leave the union, and there may be some where sections of the population strongly protest for leaving. But I think that Europe is different to the Soviet Union which was set up without consensus
//That's why you rush to see Bruce Willis films rather than French ones//

Nothing so complex. People choose to watch Bruce Willis movies rather than French films because they can understand what Bruce is saying. ;o)
Don't know of any bloc countries that survived i.e. Yugoslavia - troubles still going on
foreign films are typically dubbed into English, naomi (not always, of course). It doesn't seem to make much difference; British viewers aren't interested. They're not even that interested in British films. It's Hollywood they're besotted with, and American culture generally, from rap music to baseball caps to slang.
I think you should complain to the MEP you voted for about the dicatorial totalitarist regime of the EU!
