Britain follows the USA into battle. The French give it a miss. Who's lost their sovereignty here?

Complain to your MEP. Do it double quick if he happens to be a UKIP MEP. You can ask him why he's getting a fat salary and expenses from an organisation which he objects to our being in. And whether he thinks a form of proportional representation should be adopted in UK general elections. After all, it's what got him elected.

True, he did say that, but his OP speaks of the EU replacing the old Soviet Union, and that implies potential domination over all, which would include loss of identity, sovereignty, history and culture. I think he's wrong - but I think that's what he's talking about.

In the Soviet Bloc every member was in theory allowed to leave, subject to every member agreeing . Which of course meant no one could ever leave.

In the EU every member is allowed to leave a part of the organisation subject to every member agreeing. W

We don't need any other country's permission to leave the EU

Leaving *part* of the EU involves changing the structure of the whole organisation - a fundamental change to how it works

It would allow us to reap all the benefits without paying the 'membership fees' - so it's not unreasonable for everybody to have to agree to *that*
