Gai Pride
59 Answers
A nearby town has a 'gai pride'(it is in France) march today. What's to be proud of? if the gais had acheived gaidom after a lifetime of effort then it would be understandable but they claim to be born that way. Perhaps I should start a 5' 10" pride march or a shoe size 9 pride march. But what to wear? there's the problem.

It's a safe space with the gay village cordoned off (you can't get into the area without a special wristband) where people can be themselves without having to worry about being discriminated against, have comments made, even be attacked. thrown out of places etc... just because of their sexuality.
The parades here are great, a huge amount of time and effort goes into it and it helps to raise awareness of issues and organisations as well as put on a damn good show, many organisations get involved, police, fire service, NHS and many more.

If you see yourself as being in a section of society that has been discriminated against for generations then perhaps you feel more inclined than others to assert yourself. Some do it by unpleasant means. Gay Pride marches strike me as being a very jolly and indeed inclusive way of doing it.
I suggest you do organise a "Size 9 Pride" march and wear Size 9 shoes. That would seem appropriate surely :-)
