Seems a surprising long sequence of PMs don't wear a wedding ring

I never have and I know my father never did so it doesn't seem that odd to me but I get the feeling I may be in the minority these days ( seems like a convention that started around WWII )

Dependent on the husbands job yes I would expect him to wear a wedding band...I would have to.

All my family have always worn wedding rings,I have worn one for over 57 years,my present one is over 100 years old past down from my grandfather.

I grew up thinking that the custom was simply the man gave the woman a ring. Never occurred to me for years some couples might do a swop. Maybe it is religion based as to what happens ? I'd be surprised to find a sequence of male MPs that did wear a ring. Unsure why the fuss that many didn't as it's the norm surely.

My OH would wear one but he nearly ripped his finger off whilst at work, he had the ring mended and it's now in a box somewhere in the house. I'd rather not wear one, I'm not keen on any knid of 'proper' jewellery but I think OH would be a bit disappointed if I didn't wear it.

That's really interesting whistonian - shows the practice isn't purely recent and it's more a case that it's gatherer momentum in recent decades.

Personally I've never liked jewelry - too fussy and making sure you don't lose it taking it off and on for sports etc.

My dad took the mick out of my brother when he got married in 1986 and had a wedding ring. In these days of political correctness I'd better not say what he called him, but it still makes me laugh. My husband wears one and he was treated to the same abuse.
