That it is possible to write a work of fiction that has been a best seller for nearly a millenium. Not impressed by the copyright though.
I get no inspiration in my daily life from 'Noddy Goes to Toyland'.

I see no reason why I should get inspiration from another work of fiction that has no more relevance than the work of Enid Blyton.
It's great to be able to look at how a work of literature has been put together in a crossroads of ancient cultures and added to / tweaked into modern times.
Baffling that it wields any kind of authority, and that it causes so much sadness.
At the same time, there are many nice people who happen to believe in biblical teachings - I suspect they would be nice people anyway, with or without the Bible.

Thanks everyone,so,the concensus is that we dont gain much inspiration from the bible and that our characters and judgement are not shaped much by religion...

I suggest that any English-speaking person with knowledge of the Bible, who cannot find either poetic beauty of their language, insight into the history of humanity, or some level of spiritual elevation, may as well go and shoot themselves, as they are dead already.
That's two-thirds of ABers now leaving the doors to go out and shoot themselves, Khandro. Ed won't be that happy re his ad revenues.

ZM - I take full responsibility for my own actions,instincts,etc.I do not refer to the bible.Any adversity to me I dont dwell on.Life is a game of snakes and ladders.

I have been fascinated by the thread posted by Naomi regarding God's will etc.Very clever question
