I have read the old and new testaments several times, beginning when I was a young child, and the whole thing seems to me to be a hotch-potch of ill-remembered folk tales, driven by superstition, and filled with violence, racism, homophobia, sexism, cruelty and hatred of every description. Not an inspiring book at all.

I'm more inspired by Stephen R Donaldson's "Thomas Covenant" chronicles, Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" & pretty much anything by Stephen King - they're all far more believable than the nonsense in the Bible IMO.
My character & judgement are influenced by my life experiences - I go to bed at night with a clear conscience, knowing I've been the best I could have been as a human being, without the stricture of scripture to hold me back.

I find the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in Revelations, pretty stirring stuff :0)

I find no inspiration in the bible at all.
I am an aetheist, so i have no problem finding inspiration in my own mind, i do not need an ancient book to inspire me.
Not believing in God saves me from those knotty problems Christians seem burdened by every day - such as how a loving God can allow such pain and suffering in the world?
The answer i always get is that Mankind has free will, and from that, all evil comes.
That is far too glib and simple for me!
