if so, what do you all think of halal meat and the evil cruel barbaric slaughter of animals.
i am amazed that cosmetic testing labs have been fire bombed, broken into, smashed up and picketed in the past , though when muslims are cruelly killing these animals in such a way

In September 2011, the Food Standards Agency reported that “the majority of animals destined for the halal trade in both the red and white meat sectors are stunned before slaughter”.
BTW
/The animal has its throat cut and has to bleed to death/
Not really. 'Bleeding to death' is what might happen if a limb is severed
Cutting the throat causes unconsciousness almost immediately and rapid brain death - long before major blood loss
I'm not sure having one's skull cracked open or being electrocuted or gassed is that much better

... so to answer the OPs question
the reason most animal activists or their organisations are 'quiet' on Halal is that most of them are vegetarian/vegan
as they consider any exploitation and killing of animals morally wrong and unnecessary, you are hardly likely to find them campaigning that one method of slaughter is possibly/slightly less disgusting than another.

There certainly hasn't been silence dd, not on here anyway, where it has been debated quite a few times over the years to my knowledge.
As regards stunning the animal first this does not always happen I'm afraid and it is disgraceful that our supermarkets don't label their meat so that we know exactly what slaughter method is used. I think is was Naznomad aka Trimesaurus who posted some horrific pictures on AB of animals supposed to be stunned first but weren't.
I do eat meat and have cut down a lot over the years but I do try to ensure the creature has had a decent life so buy free range etc. M&S sells non Halal lamb through their West Country range I have discovered so had some the first time in ages recently. I'd like to cut out meat altogether eventually because of the cruelty associated with all methods of slaughter. Respect to those that have managed to do it.
