I always thought it was the Essex accent

The Beeb gave up the standard of English pronounciation and in keeping with its left wing sentiments held that any or every accent was 'valid'

Thing is some people like the south west accent or welsh lilt and there is no one who like Brummie or Scouse.I cant stand the Essex wide-boy accent but we have to accept it is All now Normal

it's an accent thing as PP says, it's Estuary English. IE Essex, Kent, London areas.
