As far as I'm aware Muslim men are required to be covered from the shoulders to below the knee. Modesty.

I regularily see muslim men with trousers length approx 2/3 inches above ankle .

Only this afternoon i was walking behind a muslim man who had actually folded over his trousers so that it was above his ankles
A fashionista perhaps. ;o)
I have to admit to that one baffling me as well Bazile, as it's a look ive seen on quite a few Asian men (usually older ones) where I live.

Whilst we're on the topic, im also baffled why they still where the 2 piece outfits they wear. I (wrongly?) assumed that the original use for such outfits were to stay cool as well as modestly dressed in a hot climate, surely not applicable in a freezing winter here in the UK!
this might explain a bit more

^Ah, there you are. ”The one who lets his garment hang beneath his ankles” will be “doomed and lost”.
what a palaver !
Cool link humbers, does explain a lot.

Still, what a ruddy kerfuffle eh? Can understand the 'need' for modesty, but the rules and regulations regarding everything else involving just their clothing is plain daft.
The arbitrary rules required by religions are about demonstrating compliance without reason or question.
What is so special about ankles?
In Islam men should be covered from tummy (belly button) to below the knees (knees covered). And that is minimum requirement. Trouser could be anywhere between knees and ankles for modesty reasons. But it is not compulsory but is supposed to be better.
^^^What a load of tosh. Who makes these rules?
Sir Prize - We all abide by some sort of rules set by someone else. Even you do that.
Stupid bloody nonsense!
goodlife, if the islamic faith would worry less about modesty and more about human rights, the world would be a far better place.
geez oh.............. we are now questioning the length of their ( muslim ) trousers. !!
Hey keyplus - ///Sir Prize - We all abide by some sort of rules set by someone else. Even you do that.///

Yes you may be right; and my rules make a lot more sense than yours.
I don't know about Muslims but Jeeves always said that trousers should never be too short, nor too long but always at the correct height.

In "the Code of the Woosters", Bertie is having some difficulty adjusting his trews, as his mind is on other things ::::

“There are moments, Jeeves, when one asks oneself, 'Do trousers matter?'"

"The mood will pass, sir.”
A friend opted to use his driver for the short hop from his home to the British Embassy for a do at which he was intending to wear a kilt to avoid causing offence and creating consternation whilst residing in Kabul.

Kilts in Kabul are something of a novelty :-)
Eccles...I have news for you......they are a ruddy novelty in Swansea too !
