Mikey, I don't think they want to look old, but maybe more mature.
It is also white fashionable at the moment for the younger generation, look up "hipster"
ratter...I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind be able to chop of the odd decade or two !
But when you see older boys and young men, some of them mid-teens looking like Rip van Winkle, I just think its a bit sad ! One of nephews is in his late 20's and lives in Australia these days, and he looks older then his father, my brother.
One of my local pubs has been taken over by trendy hipsters. They've all got bears, dress in a similar manner and have jumped on the real ale bandwagon. They're all to****rs with or without a beard
Lol melv, I love real ale but I certainly aint no hipster and I dont hang out with anybody else that even has a beard.
I think the "Hipster beards" look is now going out of fashion again, I had mine long before hipsters were hipsters and I will have mine for years after they have gone out of fashion.
It's just a trend, but apparently will be on its way out soon. My stepson has a huge beard, but I'm sure he'll shave it off as soon as it stops being trendy or hip. ( God, I feel old typing those words.)
I hate those big bushy beards that are popular now, even though they do suit some men. I like more 'normal' beards like Prince Harry's. I'd leave home for him ..... !
