I read something here about how years ago people weren’t easily contactable and it occurred to me that, whether at home or out and about, I’m rarely, if ever, without my mobile phone. Has yours become essential to you?

Hardly attached at all, really. Sent from my mobile

nope !.don't know where it even is !!
I always have my mobile with me.

I have it in case of contact from family, or if I am 'scratching money' (but not making a living of course) from my music writing.

But I don't use it for anything else - maybe a generation thing, but I am never glued to it like my daughters and grand-daughter.
My mobile is always with me but is set to silent. It is for my convenience to make calls, not to be at the beck and call of everyone.
Andy is waiting for Sharon Osbourne to call..!!!
I wish - a meeting with the divine Ms. O, and an interview with Ozzy!!

Result!!!

Haha! Heaven forbid! I wouldn't fancy listening to her awful voice too much!
Absolutely not, spend about ten pounds a year - mostly calling cabs home from appointments.

Oops! That^ was in response to murraymints.
I get mildly annoyed if I find I have left it somewhere, as others expect to be able to contact us these days.
I am more attached to my ipad.
Not at all. I have one for emergencies and to send the odd text. Only about ten people have my number, every body else gets the home number which they can leave messages on if necessary
Mine is, unfortunately, a necessary evil because I am effectively "on call" between 8 and 8. After that time, I tend to keep it close since I have two elderly and poorly relatives who may need me at any hour.

But I do tend to answer it on a "my convenience" level and phone back in order of priority.

Barmaid, //But I do tend to answer it on a "my convenience" level and phone back in order of priority. //

Me too.
I usually have it next to me at home or work, but sometimes forget to take it with me when I go out. I don't always notice until I get back home.

I find it quite funny that youngsters grab theirs in their hands all the time. What are they scared of missing?
My missed calls must outnumber calls I actually answer by about 4 to 1
If I'm at home I will deliberately leave it in the kitchen and sit in the living room.
No, I'm not very attached to it, a necessary evil really !
No.
Not particularly attached to it. Forgotten how many times it has been left in the car glovebox for a few days.

I then spend hours trying to remember where I left it.
Nope, I find it quite annoying the fact people think they can contact me where-ever whenever. I leave it at home when I go out these days, it's cheaper than a land line and don't get me started on PPI calls and the bumph! grrr. The simple premise is when I'm at home I'm available.
I actually don't have one. I don't want one either. Does that make me strange???
