As some ABers will have no doubt noted, I have long been a champion of Tommy Robinson, I am now joined by none other than the excellent Douglas Murray,
(and may God preserve them both).

AG Christie and Talbot......I am record, many times, of condemning Anjem Choudary here on AB.

Some simple research on your part would have made that obvious. Brain into gear before hands touch the keyboard is needed here perhaps !
Not as quick as you are to condemn anyone from right wing groups though.
But you were wrong Ummmm ! You tried to imply that I hadn't condemned Choudary.

But I will continue to condemn race hate figures in the future, including both people mentioned in Khandro's thread.
Mikey, //Brain into gear before hands touch the keyboard is needed here perhaps ! //

Indeed it is. If you condemn Anjem Choudary, it follows that you agree with Tommy Robinson who also condemns him. Take your own advice.

You have neither bothered to read the article nor watch the video, but you feel qualified to make blind value judgments on them, - I think there's a word for that.

As there is nothing said by either Douglas Murray in the article, or by Gad Saad and Tommy Robinson in the interview with which I disagree, I therefore, according to your ill-informed and irrational logic, must in your blinkered eyes be a "race hate figure" too.
Well, I'll somehow just have to live with that.
Birdie>Mikey You're saying that a person with any sort of criminal conviction is ineligible to comment on matters relating to religion and belief? You're saying that we should trash everything said by people who have done immoral and demonstrably illegal acts?

Mikey, do you think that the Rev Ian Paisley was suitably qualified to comment on religious belief?

He was sent to prison in late 1968 and was arrested in 1980. Should his experience and subsequent views have been consigned to the trash can especially given that he was prominent in the executive discussions that led to a united Ireland?

Khandro - I too admire Tommy Robinson and don't give a toss what anybody thinks of that !

Before getting our knickers in a twist over condemning Robinson, let us remember this from Choudary:-

"Choudary dreamed of turning Buckingham Palace into a mosque and imposing Sharia Law in the UK, saying in a lecture in 2013: "Next time when your child is at school and the teacher says, what do you want when you grow up, what is your ambition, they should say to dominate the whole world of Islam, including Britain"

"That's my ambition."

and one wonders why Robinson should have been so unfairly handled
Turning BP into a mosque? I bet Prince Philip would have some choice fruity words to say about that.
@ Khandro

I have watched the video and will let you know my thoughts later.
I found the 73min video well worth watching (except for the opening exchanges discussing football quotes!)

I'd not heard of the professor before. This is a guy who fled Lebanon from the Muslims and is now based in Canada. The footage was a split screen with TR in discussion.

I found TR a very open, honest and courageous individual who deserves more respect than he is given. He was very engaging and, as he stated, is always prepared to answer any question put to him. Anyone who considers him to be a boorish, unintelligent football hooligan type would need to take a reality check on viewing this.

He describes in detail his experiences in his home town of Luton which has hardened his determination to cause a change in thinking and attitudes towards Islam. He discussed the constant fear and threat he faces but despite the pressure from his wife and two daughters he states that he cannot discontinue his work.

Both contributors spoke from the same hymnsheet and the exchanges around 'true' Islam, Majid Nawaz and the Quilliam Foundation were fascinating as well as attitudes from some Muslims who agree that changes are necessary to adapt to Western society.

Very few people are prepared to speak out including, as TR identifies, the people who should, including politicians.

There are many similarities with Geert Wilders I would say. Both are not afraid to speak their mind where many others are. Both describe themselves as not fascists but liberals who neither hate Muslims but the Islam ideology itself. TR mentions that he has many Muslim friends.

There is evidence that TR has matured over the last few years and has clearly moved on from his early, face-covering exploits and is now more open and sensible in his discussions.

I strongly recommend that people view this video and challenge anyone with negative pre-conceptions to remain as critical after viewing it.

Thanks Khandro - TR came across as a very personable guy with many sensible observations. Good look to him!
They are both self-aggrandising narrow-minded agitating bigots. Neither of them deserve the proverbial oxygen of publicity. They both use religion to stir up divisive hatred, and both are self-appointed. They are as bad as each other.

How’s that for being even-handed?

//How’s that for being even-handed?//

Lousy!
Khandro - I have pointed out my view, and as I have said, I regard Mr Robinson and Mr Choudary to be cut from exactly the same cloth.

They both possess planet-sized egos, they both believe they know better than anyone else, they both firmly believe that they cannot possibly be wrong.

And they both use religion to stir up hatred and antagonism in similarly-minded narrow-minded bigots.

They are identical in all their attitudes.

What in that assessment may I ask fails to be anything but even-handed?
^I conclude that you have listened to neither.
naomi - Your concluder is - not for the first time - faulty.
