Knee Cut Jeans

why and how did this ridiculous style trend of cutting or slicing denims for girls come from?

The young have been distressing jeans for decades - ps. we aren't supposed to like what those younger than us wear.

As others have said, there's always been trends how to wear jeans across the decades, shrunk, bleached, ripped, fringed. I don't like the ripped knee look, they can be immaculately turned out above waist level & wear these. But I'm old now and that's the ageing process. I suppose my frayed jeans were talked about in the 70s :0?

Not Your Children? ? - Poem by lord hunter
Your children are not your children,
They are the sons and daughters of
Life longing for itself....
They come through you but not from you
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you,
You may give them your love, but not your thoughts-
For they have their own thoughts
You may house their bodies, But not their souls.
For their souls dwell, in the house of tomorrow which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams,
You may strive to be like them,
But seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday

There's a programme on TV called how's it made and they visited a huge jean factory somewhere in Brazil. They do all the work for you, the new jeans are tumbled with pebbles to give them the distressed look and then they go through a machine which tears and rips them, all we have to do now is wear them.
