...shown on BBC's Panorama last night. I was expecting to see a thread about it and am a little surprised not to find one. The Panorama team returns to Blackburn ten years after showing a program investigating social integration in the town and asks the question "What's changed?".

Did you watch it? What did you think?

OM Maya. My question still stands..............
'OK Mamya'
Talking about integration, does London still have a Chinese quarter?
Chinatown in London has moved around a bit over the years.

Danny it does and its bigger than ever, last time i was down that way, and it was a couple of years ago, i wanted to get something from one of the shops and you would have thought i'd landed on the moon, only a couple of people in the shop spoke English. I finally found what i wanted but the Chinese community are as closed as its possible to be.
I've heard of cities and large towns with a 'Little Italy' too.
So the problem of non-integration is far from new.
Not new at all.
Not heard of Little Italys but they do have social clubs where children are taught their ;own language.
there is or was a community of Little Italy, it centres around a Church which names escapes me, near to Leather Lane Market, it also centred around a wonderful deli that catered for the Italian and general community, where you can/could get fabulous stuff.
I don't get around much sorry to say.. so these may have all gone now for all i know.

United Kingdom

Little Italy in Bedford
Little Italy, Hoddesdon, in Hertfordshire
Scotland Road in Liverpool was known as Little Italy
Clerkenwell in London was known as Little Italy
Ancoats in Manchester was known as Little Italy

A fair few labelled as 'was'.
Clerkenwell is where i was pointing to.
Lynne, I can only vouch for where I live, I have quite a few Italian acquaintances and they are spread over the city.
Did the Mafia get to them Danny?
ZM, Little Germany in Bradford got its name from the businesses in that area being mostly owned by Germans. There is no residential property there.
There is residential property there actually Dan. From the Wiki link
Eastbrook Hall in Little Germany. The project cost an estimated £11 million and converted the old building into 63 high-quality apartments
Eastbrook Hall is in Leeds Road outside LIttle Germany.
I think you're splitting hairs there.
