The England football manager sat watching the game, wearing a smart suit, waistcoat shirt and tie. Immaculate. A great example and ambassador for the team, the game generally and our country.

In an interview, the new Lord Mayor of Sheffield wore a back to front baseball cap, a scruffy tee shirt, and ill fitting track suit pants, and rounded it all off with the mayoral chain of office.

Even though he is a Muslim and might not know better, wouldn't you think that somebody should have advised him regarding the dignity of the office he holds, and how to present himself and behave?

I expect he's cool ... innit.

The threat was not veiled.
Speechless.
^^ That'll make a change.
I'm not biting Jack.
Lol. It was funny, ummmm. ;-)
I did smile, I must admit.
Buenchico, //[BTW, Theland: If you continue to post things like "Even though he is a Muslim and might not know better . . . " you could well find yourself in the sin bin again].//

Do you see what you did there? I reiterate Spicerack’s subsequent question. Why's that? Aren't people entitled to a different view?

kvalidir, //You genuinely see nothing wrong with that sentence Spicerack?//

Oh dear.
I don't think he looked scruffy in his casual (expensive looking) gear.. appropriate dress for a young man attending a footie match even if he is the mayor.. and his official portrait was refreshingly lovely.. he appears to be a very personable ( and attractive ) young man... perhaps the "missing link" that will assist with some of the social issues....
Yes 'oh dear' Naomi, if you're not feeling quite sharp enough to understand the problem with it, perhaps you ought to go and have a lie down eh?
I am saying no more, as the naughty step is cold and damp and plays havoc with my haemorrhoids. But I must agree with what Naomi said above.
kvalidir, haha! Some response! :o)

Onwards. We all disagree with other people at times. That, however, doesn't entitle us to silence them.
Or indeed to attempt to patronise them Naomi. If you want a sensible response from people perhaps you ought to try a little harder than a sneering ' oh dear'- otherwise you will get that kind of attitude returned in spades.
kvalidir, your attitude says far more about you than it says about me. I'm surprised that you advocate silencing people who disagree with you, but there you are. Now we know.
Buenchico was only pointing out that the phrase used in the question breaks this sites rules and therefore could lead to a suspension, (Theland has previously been suspended). It was not a threat, it was advice.
Gromit, how does it break the Site Rules?
// • Do not post material that discriminates on grounds of religion //

Saying the reason he dressed scuffily for a photoshoot might be because he is a muslim, is obviously discriminatory (as well as nonsense).
I have no wish to silence anyone whether they agree with me or not, however if people wish to be taken seriously then they might refrain from posting such agenda laden questions and then give a BA to a frankly vacuous post that does you no credit. There are ways of expressing oneself without resorting to gutter level snipes at minorities you don't personally like. I don't like NIMBY right wingers who think they represent everyone and anyone who disagrees with them is merely entitled to a brusque dismissive not even worthy of a proper answer, but there you go, we can't always have what we want can we?
Now there is a mayor who appears very approachable, lovely smile. Great dress sense, good luck to him and Sheffield .
Gromit, ah, I see. So it’s okay to discriminate when the discrimination is deemed positive - but not otherwise. Thank you for that. ;o)

kvalidir //There are ways of expressing oneself without resorting to gutter level snipes…//

Hmmmm ….. looking at 07:26 as we speak.
As I said if you start it I'm only too delighted to finish it, alternatively you could try having a sensible debate.
