A Tale Of Two Men

The England football manager sat watching the game, wearing a smart suit, waistcoat shirt and tie. Immaculate. A great example and ambassador for the team, the game generally and our country.
In an interview, the new Lord Mayor of Sheffield wore a back to front baseball cap, a scruffy tee shirt, and ill fitting track suit pants, and rounded it all off with the mayoral chain of office.
Even though he is a Muslim and might not know better, wouldn't you think that somebody should have advised him regarding the dignity of the office he holds, and how to present himself and behave?

He wears a suit well too.

Magid Magid gave his interview to Sky News during a photo-shoot which was deliberately designed to show his 'man of the people' credentials. However the clothes he wore during that photo-shoot were far from 'scruffy':

This photograph of him, taken after his inauguration as Lord Mayor, is one of the best portrait photographs I've ever seen (worthy of a place in the National Portrait Gallery's photographic section). It might not be 'traditional' but it's a superb, and wholly appropriate, portrait:

I lived in Sheffield for 20 years and attended several Lord Mayor's Receptions. If I was still living there now (and retaining the connections that got me invited to those free nosh-ups), I would be honoured to meet Magid Magid and I welcome the appointment of a black Muslim to the role of Sheffield's second-highest dignitary. (In Sheffield the most senior local dignitary isn't the Lord Mayor; it's the Master Cutler).
[BTW, Theland: If you continue to post things like "Even though he is a Muslim and might not know better . . . " you could well find yourself in the sin bin again].

It's odd he would be deemed acceptable in this image but not in the others posted above - surely better to listen to what he has to say.
Imagine for a moment you couldn't see him.

"I agree with all the other answers except that of Naomi, which is not that surprising, given her history as an extreme right-wing Islamophobe"
The answer referred to being "I expect he's cool ... innit".
An argument leaving you with four fewer legs to stand on than your sobriquet suggests, Chair.
PS: do have intelligible definitions of "far-right" and "Islamophobe"?

The point of a definition being that you can defend, or excuse yourself by saying "I said that for such and such a reason", or "I said that, but I didn't mean what you...".
You get the point, Chair?
But if you're using these words not as a criticism, but as a smear all one can do is wash the dog-*** off one's shoes.
