Did any of you see the BBC documentary on Grenfell a few days ago?

Beyond words. We saw a shattered community holding each other together in the glaring absence of any local or central government help. All religious communities working together with no hint of disdain or exclusion. The fire service, and later the police, doing what they could, devastated though they too were by what they were forced to deal with.

And anger. Hot, justifiable anger, at every aspect of a totally avoidable tragedy.

We should salute and respect this west London community.

It was actually a great programme. And I’ve not really been following this that closely.
I don’t think ‘ecoloons’ from the EU or anywhere else had a lot to do with the cladding

Okay if you think so Naomi. Communities and individuals need time to come to terms with things and to heal, it's not a 5 minute process and one of the most important aspects of that is for their voices and opinions to be heard. It's not 'ongoing heart-wrenching' it's a necessary part of the process of the community healing and making sure also that it doesn't happen again, and it does sound as though you are slightly irritated by this.

As time goes on, it appears that the tragedy was caused by an unfortunate concidence of events. Taken in isolation, none would have caused a disaster on this scale; it is to be forever regretted that they collided in this devastating manner.

I did not watch the one on BBC. Did it by any chance mention how many offers of accommodation had been turned down?

indeed JTH - what they describe in my industry as the "swiss cheese" model. let's hope that the circling lawyers can be persuaded away from their assertion that this disaster is a race issue.

I haven't managed to watch the whole of that documentary or indeed some of the other reports shown on this, but there have been some moving accounts shown.

I was moved last night by a young lady who has been working with children and teens in creative writing and art therapy.
