I insist, after looking into it a bit further, that Trangenderism is delusional, and the people it affects need help, not accommodation or condemnation.
Just like any other mental illness or deviation, it needs treatment.

Maybe it died out for a bit then but there is a documented history of transgenderism going back thousands of years, although generally it was far more prevalent in other countries than in the UK. Many cultures recognised 3 genders thousands of years ago- far simpler though than the 20-30 genders claimed nowadays.
It was less obvious of course and maybe far less pevelant in the UK in our childhood- I'm not sure if it was usually hidden or suppressed or whether peopel just felt unhappy in their bodies and wern't able to put a label on it

Years ago (around 45) we had a neighbouring farmer who was very effeminate in his looks and manner and the consensus was he 'batted for the other side' but no one cared really. He amazed everyone by marrying a woman who looked more like a man than he did though it was clear she was female. They had no children but lived happily together. I think these things happened and there was just no label and no need to share with anyone.
I heard the tail end of an item on R4 about 1:30. From what I could gather militant trans activists were accusing a journalist of being directly responsible for suicides in their 'community' and an MP had been reported to the parliamentary beak for being involved in 'hate speech' because some older constituents had asked some questions at a meeting.
All starting to smell a bit fascisty and shrill.
On the other side of the debate there seemed to be some suggestion that impressionable yoof was being influenced by peers on social media, along the lines of eating disorder worries of a few years ago.
We may yet reap the whirlwind of mutilated but ultimately misguided victims who might want to take a bit more time in deciding their future before getting on trend.

Indeed it has, jim. I'm not disputing that. My last remark was deliberately flippant. What hasn't been around for ages is the notion that individuals can "self-identify" according to whatever way the wind is blowing on any particular day and take advantage of the facilities offered to each gender as suits them. Believe it or nor many males and females enjoy the reassurance of "men only" or "women only" facilities of various types. They should be able to use those facilities without running the risk of an individual of the opposite sex roaming about amongst them because they've changed gender for the day. As is often the case, the rights of the vast majority of people are being sacrificed to accommodate a relatively very small number of individuals.

Is all this Trangenderism nonsense gathering pace in the 21st century because it is easier to access the public purse to facilitate it?
If that's how they feel, why not just get on with it, keep their gobs shut, and use the toilets and changing facilities according to their XX or XY identity?
