So here's the thing, i've seen all these controversy about the government wanting to Ban Abortion and People who disagree with it, but some people are saying that abortion is a cruel thing to do because it's killing a human being before they even born because of your own mistake, but than people ask what if they got raped? So the solution is either telling people not to be a rapist which is a good idea but wasn't really effective, or women can protect themselves by wearing an outfit that doesn't make them look attractive like the ones Muslim women use to wear, you don't see a lot of Muslim women got raped right?, But then again people started protesting about how men shouldn't be allowed to tell women what to wear it's like they've been given a solution but then they denied it and start making another problem with it, i just don't understand, do you have a better solution? Let me know

It serves exactly that purpose for people (men and women) who have sex irresponsibly and lack the imagination (or moral sense) to see that late-term abortion is infanticide. I just don't get how women (the natural mother of our species) consent to abortion. I honestly don't get it. why would you kill your own unborn babies? Why?
I can understand if you were raped or a victim of incest but why use abortion just because having a baby is *inconvienient* at the present moment?

Seems to me that v-e, among others, is conflating several issues. Late-term abortions, after all, happen (by definition) rather late for them to be treated as some form of contraception; would that not more likely apply to earlier abortions? Pregnancy itself can be inconvenient -- or so I'm told, how could I know really? -- so it would be a strange person who decided to endure 30-odd weeks of pregnancy and only *then* thought it was inconvenient.

"Inconvenience" is, perhaps, a harsh word and I can't speak for mothers who view it that way. But perhaps it's shorthand for "I simply do not have the emotional strength, wherewithal, desire, etc., to bring a child into the world and then raise them for years and years to come". In such circumstances, whatever the reasons -- and I fancy that even my longer version still barely scratches the surface of something that, if you aren't planning for it, must be *scary* -- is it not the lesser evil to terminate what was only a potential life, rather than to bring a child, unwanted, into the world?

The Koran doesn't sanction the rape of Muslim women except that it describes the wife or wives of a Muslim man as his "tilth" whom he can plough any way he cares to, or the hadith which says that the angels will curse till morning any woman who refuses her husband sex.

The rape of non-Muslim women is divinely sanctioned of course.

My point is far simpler, Jim: at some point in pregnancy (and I don't know when that is) what the mother is incubating in her womb becomes a sentient human being.
Therefore killing "it" is wrong.

Qualify that: an atheist reared within Western culture, so, perhaps, a "Christian" atheist.

Maybe part of the problem is that everybody, even the potential mother, is shielded from the actual gruesome reality of abortion.
