Some people here seem to be in a permanent state of confusion over what I think are quite simple guidelines for the gradual easing of lockdown and for getting people back to work….so here’s their opportunity to shine. If you were in charge, how would you do it?

Expanding on the OP slightly, I would be more adventurous. Since the A levels season is upon us (whether the exams are sat or not). Year 13 will not be in school/ college now anyway. I would, therefore, certainly allow 6th form colleges to open, since they will only have the Year 12 students in college and "double" the space available to safe distance. Likewise...

I doubt I'll ever be able to answer to your satisfaction -- or mine, for that matter. Best I can do is reword the question: assuming we see the back of Covid-19, should the world return to as it was before, or should this prompt changes in the way our society and our economy is organised? For example, do certain jobs deserve after all to be paid more money than they do now? Especially those that were deemed essential.
I'd have thought you'd be a fan of asking questions and challenging perceived wisdom etc for its own sake, without necessarily claiming to have the answers.
Still, I've suggested that at least part of the answer may be "we should pay nurses and other essential workers more", and I'm surprised, to say the least, that this has prompted suggestions from some quarters that I'm a closet Marxist.

Jim. //I'd have thought you'd be a fan of asking questions and challenging perceived wisdom etc for its own sake, without necessarily claiming to have the answers.//
I’m all for asking questions - not enough of it around in my opinion. However, in order to attempt to answer questions it’s necessary to know what they are. A pay rise for nurses is as far as you’ve got. Hardly a world-changing idea..
Theland, //Naomi, don't you also want change?
And if so, how?//
You say you want change, The ball is in your court.

It's your thread naomi so you can take it where you want, but by changing the theme from your original question to finding various things to press Jim and Theland on such little things as how we would like to change the world for the better makes it difficult for others to follow and may put others off joining on what seems to be am ongoing saga between you and jim
You keep asking them for more info. Just seems to me to be a game of one-upmanship from you on a lot of these threads, but yes I'm happy to look elsewhere. I didn't feel anyone notice was being taken of my answers to the original question anyway- maybe there was nothing I said to pick holes in. I'm just suggesting a new thread might help if you want answers on something outside the immediate scope of the OP. Just a suggestion but I know you'll carry on regardless
