As soon as the lockdown came in, the death rate shot up. Hundreds have been dying every day since, and still are. We're just going to have to live with it until they find a cure, like some countries live with Ebola. Ask the families of the 40,000+ what they think of the lockdown. What good did it do for them?

Yes, the increase in deaths also coincided with the building of Nightingale hospitals to create capacity and the provision of PPE and reappointment of retired doctors and nurses, and all those briefings, so all those must have been the cause for the deaths.
It also coincided with a full moon. Maybe it’s a lunar phenomenon?
Or ask one of the hundreds of thousands who were extremely vulnerable but has followed the guidelines, socially distanced, avoided the shops where possible, and are rather glad they have avoided being in the 40000 so far or even avoided having the infection. My mum for example knows that it's been worth it because she's got through it, the health system has coped and we are now safely able to relax the lockdown and some like you can happily play golf again. It'll be with us for some time yet but it can be kept to manageable levels and scientists are working on treatments and vaccines.
Many of the people still dying have had the disease a long time. I certainly think lockdown has worked, since most of my friends are elderly and vulnerable and none of them or their families have had the disease. Neither has anyone else I have chatted to in passing. And most of the people on this website who have self isolated seem fine too.
The death rate shooting up when lockdown was brought in might mean those were infected before lockdown. Does anyone know how many did not contract Covid and did not die because of lockdown. According to what I have been reading the death rate is going down. We went into lockdown earlier and have had a low death rate. With lockdown being eased there has been a slight increase in deaths in Lisbon and another area, in the 25 to 65 age group and this is being investigated.
Poor logic...there is no proof that lockdown caused death rates to go up. Where are the facts to back up your statement.

The big failure was allowing hospitals to discharge people into care homes without testing them for CV. It protected hospitals but meant a third of deaths were in care homes. Many of the most vulnerable people haven't been protected.
Another crass statement with no evidence to back it up
Without lockdown it is certain that there would have been many more deaths. The only cases where it hasn't worked are where people have ignored it.
according to a friend in a home counties ITU, from the onset of symptoms to hospital bed averages 10 days, and from there to bodybag a further 20. the lockdown occurred on 23rd march, although from observation it was being voluntarily enacted most of the previous week. thus it would be expected to take until mid April or so for any effect of the lockdown on death rate to work through (assuming a very short incubation period). in fact according to the graph of deaths reported (here https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ ) the peak occurred around 10th-15th, which would be about right.
Theres no helping some people is there
Of course it went up. But not as badly or high as it would have without a lockdown. The aim was always not to claim that fewer folk would get ill, but, as has been stated many times, to spread the peak out. Pretty much achieved/is achieving, that.
Why is it that the floodwaters rise so quickly after people put the sandbags up?

Good answer. Of course all of us, including me, have fallen into 10CS's trap. He's lurvvvving it
Exactly.
No one was dying before lockdown.
Face masks don’t work someone on the internet said.
Self isolating doesn’t work tweeted some barmy President.
41,000+ have died because we are British and we’re above all that.
Keep Calm and Carry On Regardless!
It's easy to say the lockdown hasn't worked, as 10cs has shown time and time again, but we really don't know. For all we know, without lockdown, thw death toll may have trebled.
Yes. The whole of Covid 19 has been very poorly Managed. By an Inferior Government led by Boris, Who hasn't got a clue . Who is heavily influenced by his Chief Adviser. Who thinks Lockdown does not apply to him.

Hands up everyone who knew something like that was coming from someone like that.
Stuck record syndrome.
Wouldn't be so bad if it was a decent record Shoota, but this is like the flipping Birdie Song.
