Why do I not feel guilty for my opinion that same sex marriage is an abomination.

Must be my age and intolerance.

Sparklykid, I think we just have to face the fact, however unpalatable some may find it, the TV has to reflect the world as it is today. Unfortunately, because soaps need to be inclusive, I think there is a disproportionate amount of LGBT's, same sex marriages etc. As well as that there seems to be a disproportionate amount of criminality and death by accident...

Don't worry Sparkly....you can always put it back on.
"I'm sick of having the whole homosexual narrative rammed down my throat"
then stop watching. Maybe gay people feel sick of the whole heterosexual narrative (whatever that means!)
Quite honesty if gay people want to get married it doesn't affect me in any way, any more than if they just live together. It's their life and as long as people don't hurt others in any way at all then what's the point of discussing it. Different, I suppose if you hold religious views which I don't.
Yes the whole homosexual and ethnic minority narrative being constantly blurted out at is on the media is sickening, and so fed up are we that when we get a chance to do something, we vote in the Tory in Hartlepool, and watch the lefty hand wringers scurry off to plan their next protest!
I am intolerant of a lot of things but gay story-lines in soaps is just an everyday norm from my point view. To be fair I don't see it as any different from a hetero story-line.
Why is it sickening, theland? Do you not think we have spent long enough blurting out white, heterosexual relationships? Why does it bother you now?
im not sure the people who voted in hartlepool did so because of coro!
It only seems homophobic people notice how often it's blurted out. I certainly don't. Live and let live, as long as it's legal and consensual.
I'm pretty sure that gay people are fed up with straight storylines...and have been for sixty years.
I can remember when it was frowned on if a protestant married a catholic and then it was if a black person married a white person and then it was men marrying very young girls. Now it's same sex marriages. perhaps there will always be something to complain about.
"Must be my age and intolerance." - exactly you are an old man who can't accept anyone elses views so whats even the question you might as well have wrote a post titled hi im a homophobe are you?
Thank you for answering SK. I'd still like an answer that answers my question from APG but hey ho.
ladybirder -hey ho!

You have no idea what sexual orinetation any of my children are. A mothers love is, or should, be unconditional, and if one was Gay and wanted to get married I would be honest with them about same sex marriage, but still go to the wedding.

Hope that makes you feel better now :-)
Oh it's made my day APG, thank you so much. xxx
hi i jsut wanna say the best answer is really bad like really bad deffo wouldnt take it for real like thats actually madness
// We are not religious either. I prefer women, they are softer to touch, layer of fat under the skin.

Men are more muscular. Cannot imagine snuggling up to one. //

Me, too.... :o)
I have some sympathy with you SK, same sex marriage i have some reservations over, but if it were my child wanting to get hitched to a same sex partner then i would welcome them with no quibbles.
We live in ever changing times, and its hard to keep up with them, i know that and so do you
I think you need to tell us what your definition of "abomination" is, and why you feel same sex marriage fits that definition.

If your definition of "abomination" parallels that of the online dictionary as "a thing that causes disgust or loathing", please tell us why you find same sex relationships disgusting. Or why you loathe same sex relationships.

Disgust and loathing is not about the production of offspring - it is much more personal and visceral than that. I suspect in your case it stems from your imaginings of what same sex couples do in their private sexual relationship, and you find that unpalatable.

So tell me - what has it got to do with you, what two consenting adults do in private? Mind your own business. Stop obsessing about other people's sex lives.
It is a difficult one I agree Sparkly. OH is totally against all of the LGBT and same sex marriages. I always respond that we should all be tolerant and what harm do they do us (we don't know any).

But if I am being absolutely honest with you my gut reaction is usually of the "not natural" variety.

I do see abomination in some heterosexual couples though to be equally honest.

Censor what you see and read Sparkly, you can do without the aggravation it causes you ;)
Ringlet; You may prefer your 'online dictionary' but I stick with my Oxford (1978):

'Marriage; Condition of man & woman legally united for purposes of living together & usu. procreating legal offspring.....'

That's it for me, & I need no guidance from you or anyone else.
