Why do I not feel guilty for my opinion that same sex marriage is an abomination.
Must be my age and intolerance.

Sparklykid, I think we just have to face the fact, however unpalatable some may find it, the TV has to reflect the world as it is today. Unfortunatel y, because soaps need to be inclusive, I think there is a disproportio nate amount of LGBT's, same sex marriages etc. As well as that there seems to be a disproportio nate amount of criminality and death by accident...

What is wrong with people loving other people? Christians say that we should love one another. If you love someone, what is wrong with making a solemn and public promise that you will stick with them through thick and thin? What's sex got to do with it? (And be honest, it's the sex that frightens people for some reason. We all do it, birds and bees do it, our lovely pets and farm animals do it. At least we try to do it with love and dignity.)

Speak for yourself, it doesn't frighten me. Living here in this beautiful countryside in springtime, next to a wonderful river, all I can see around me are fauna & flora 'heing & a sheing', nature seems to know what it's doing, don't you?

What counts as private? The mere fact of a same-sex relationship isn't private, nor should it be treated as such, any differently from hetero relationships. As long as TV and film shows consider relationships and romance as entertainment, then why treat same-sex relationships, or anything else on the LGBT spectrum, any differently?

Mozz, //In fairness Naomi, in a discussion which starts with the OP declaring same sex marriage to be "an abomination"//
That’s not fairness. The word comes from the biblical description of the act of two men lying together. Rather different from labelling anyone who disagrees ‘ignorant numpties’.

In my opinion all relationships should be treated as private. I don't don't feel compelled to wear 'Happy to be Hetero' t-shirts - my life is no one else's business - and I simply don’t understand why anyone else needs to advertise their preferences - unless, as I suspect, they crave attention and it’s a case of ‘Look at me’.
