WHY DOES THE ANSWER MATTER ? ? Sooner or later, nearly everybody wonders what the purpose of life is. Is it to work hard to improve our living conditions, to provide for our families, to die after perhaps 70 or 80 years, and then to be nonexistent forever? there is no other purpose in life than ??“to live, to have children, to be happy and then to die.” But is that true ? And does death really end it all ????
The purpose of life is, hopefully some of us will have contributed something to it that will live on after we die.
Perhaps our contribution maybe small, but most of us will do something in our lifetime that we will be remembered for.
"the only purpose in life is to pass on your genes."
So if you can't or choose not to do that your life has no purpose? What if you discover or invent something wonderful or produce beautiful art or music that enriches the lives of others? Van Gogh didn't pass on his genes.
So what is the purpose of life then?
JW's never actually answer this question except to say that
we all (Well, at least the elite) live eternally on a new Earth.
To live it as well as you can; be honest; make your own way; look after and help others and not to be cruel to anyone.
It's how I try to live anyway. Oh! Forgot to say - to say 'thank you' to God for showing you how to achieve this. Will that do?
