Back in the 60s an old chap who lived near me always dressed in women's skirts and jumpers. He used a ladies purse. Nobody batted an eyelid.

When on holiday a couple of years ago in Spain, there was a man in his sixties, who stayed at same hotel as us. He always carried a purse/ handbag. He sat by us for dinner one night and gave me a lecture on how to hold and place my bag on the chair. I'd shoved mine on the floor and told him I hated handbags. You should have seen the look of disdain he gave me, then muttered, "I don't like women!"....

If the weather is very warm, I wear a jacket, because the pockets are useful for carrying bits and pieces (wallet; driving licence; etc.), but I sometimes pass such bits and pieces to Mrs. BB to put in her handbag, so that I do not need to wear a jacket. I sometimes think that a bag of some kind would be handy for that, but I cannot bring myself to carry a feminine-looking handbag. If I saw a guy using a purse made for women, I would probably think, "You're a braver man than I am."
