I have a good friend who is an anti vaxer, i've had heated debates with him on social media over many months, I found out yesterday that he has caught Covid and has had to isolate over Christmas and has been quite ill, he is in his 60s, is it right for me to think, 'serves you right' or should I show sympathy?

//Wait until he recovers( hopefully) . Ask him * how stupid do you feel now ) ? //

Perhaps knowing that the vaccinated can also become infected he wouldn't feel stupid at all. Just a thought.
perhaps he wouldn't have been 'quite ill' if he'd been vaccinated, we'll never know . . .
You should show sympathy to him because his situation may prove to him the folly of not being vaccinated. He may eat humble pie.
Interesting term anti vaxxer. I guess, judging by your post, you are a sanctimonious pro vaxxer. It works both ways you know.

The debates may work a lot better if people didnt try putting other people down or name call because they hold a different opinion. But then, as PP says - It's AB!
SP . Hopefully your friend has not infected anyone else. (Especially a vulnerable person .)

It is possible that he has been infected by someone who has been double, possibly triple jabbed, anne.

Indeed it is
Such is the nature of this disease
So all the more reason to get vaccinated yes ? !
Yes it is. Might he have infected other people, and some of those people may have been vulnerable ?
Why are you trying to make him out to be a villain?

Would you ask the same question of vaccinated people?

Why are you trying to make him out to be a villain?

She is not
But she is highlighting a very probable scenario
Let us hope for his sake that he does not require hospitalisation
Just do as your heart tells you, that will show how good a friend you are.
Neither you or anne know anything about him but yet you feel qualified to make stuff u...er sorry highlight a very probable scenario
Not quite a villain , but under the circumstances, I’d class them as person to be avoided,.
As you would a vaxxed person with COVID.

You do know how this virus is transmitted yes ? ?
"....The proportion of people on oxygen, or requiring more intensive hospital care, is much lower than with delta. People are recovering more quickly too, and the number of affected older people seems to be a lot lower. So far, medics in South Africa estimate that the case fatality rate of their omicron outbreak is about 0.5 per cent compared with 3 per cent for Delta....//

As has already been highlighted elsewhere on here the SA variant bears no correlation whatsoever with the UK
Entirely different circumstances and conditions
That is why the UK is breaking records on a daily basis
In reply to your question "Saint" Peter, In this era of divide and conquer, I would say you have been successfully manipulated by the media and the narrative to turn against your "good" friend because they chose not to take a protocol that you have chosen.

Unless they were not a good friend to begin with, either way I think showing sympathy would be insincere on your part.

In reply to your question "Saint" Peter, In this era of divide and conquer, I would say you have been successfully manipulated by the media

I would say that those unvaccinated who have subsequently died or been seriously ill have made themselves look silly with their unfounded arguments
Recent evidence shows that medical personnel are fed up with them
And with very good reason

Are you suggesting that because it has been "highlighted elsewhere on here" [AB] it must be true?

The omicron variant is the same wherever it is.
