On this thread people who would never get into Mensa seem to claim they could but didn't because it has annual subs:

Mensa is a club the subs are not just for "bragging rights" you can be as involved as little or as much as you want. We have SIGs gatherings, Mensans are like masons we can look each other up in foreign countries, different towns. Often get free accommodation. There are social events every month all over the world, there are 50+ in my region alone in January. Many of you are in other clubs that pay subs you may have similar benefits or just are happy with what your club does. I get tired of people who could not get in if they tried, posting bile about what is basically just another club. PS the monthly magazine alone is worth the subs.

Mainly the language skills and logical reasoning - then I filled in as many of the maths. as I could and they must have been enough for something I suppose.
Since I was busy learning to be a grown-up teacher and then having babies so I could play in sand-pits etc., I never explored any further.
If that's what people want to do, fine by me. Everyone has different interests. Some people join the Rotary Club (we didn't do that either), theatre groups etc..
I'm not sure why there is any problem or why anyone should get at MENSA members - unless they show-off, of course, I remember a new poster once who bragged about it.

OK, I admit it, I once did a MENSA test, back in the 80's. I scored 138. Not bad, but not as good as others. It wasn't the membership fee that put me off joining. It was the feeling that everyone in MENSA was an arrogant egotist, full of their own importance and self-congratulations. One prominent member of MENSA was said to be Jimmy Saville. Oh dear God. Did I touch a nerve or something Tora? I posted an opinion, one I quite frankly stand by. If you want to spend your hard earned moolah on being a "Mensan" that's entirely your prerogative, but to quote Shania Twain, that don't impress me much.
And "Tora" while indeed perhaps being Japanese for tiger, when repeated three times is still better known as being the attack code for the Japanese air force during world war 2, as you well know. (Although I'd argue that a country at war shouldn't be described as "terrorists")

I admit to feeling quite insulted by you inference that I lied. One sign of intelligence is an open mind, a willingness to listen and digest the views of others and the ability to think 'outside the box'. " - didn't say you lied, you are mistaken or using a different scale to the Mensa one. See here, Einstien / Hawking et al are around 162 on the Stanford Binnet, you may have been using the Catell 3b.
