Foolish Ex-Pats (Immigrants) Living In Europe
50 Answers
Only a fool living within Europe would have voted for Brexit, believing things would remain the same - allowing them to reside under the same terms, post Brexit.
But who might they have got such a deranged belief from?

For once I absolutely agree with you. As I've said often enough in the past, anybody who based their vote in the EU referendum (or indeed in any other plebiscite or election) on what politicians - of any persuasion - told them or promised them, was indeed foolish - extremely foolish, in fact.

I went to live in the US when I married my American husband. I became non UK domiciled. When my marriage ended I had the option of returning to the UK or living in Portugal where two of my sisters and their husbands had emigrated to and became legal residents of Portugal in 1969.They set up their first legal business then. I also became a legal resident. We all had tax numbers, medical numbers, exchanged driving licences and fulfilled all legal requirements for full residency. All family members in Portugal,18 of us, met all the Brexit deadlines and obtained the new required documents with ease. It appears that those experiencing problems now are those that did not go through the legal process correctly
