I think I'm about to kick a wasp's nest, but here goes...

There is a case for curbing sex and violence on TV, but if you say that, 'liberals' will compare you with Mary Whitehouse (who let's face it found Tom & Jerry offensive).

There is a case for curbing immigration into this country, but if you say that, 'liberals' will compare you to the BNP (who would expell anyone with dark skin).

There is a case against teaching homosexuality as 'normal' in schools, but if you say that, 'liberals' will say you hate homosexuals and refuse to tolerate them.

The point is, many people are sick of so-called liberals forcing their ideas on us, but are scared to speak out in case they are accused of being a fascist, a Tory or a religious fundamentalist. Debate on certain issues is stopped because the so-called liberals will immediately call you nasty names. In politics and the media, there is no centre ground any more.

What can be done?

'Minterism' at its finest!
Excellent post Looshead, can't wait for part 2.

Certainly bought out the 'liberals' here Romeo.
I don't know many people who think their should be more sex and violence on tv, as an adult you have a choice to watch what you want to and as a parent you should protect your children from watching things you dont want them to. I don't believe watching violence breeds violence. Ive watched many a horror film and have got through my life without so much as punching anyone.

There are any people here who obviously have a genuine concern about immigration but there are others that hide their blatant racism behind this issue. I also think some people need someone else to blame for that lack of success in life and immigrants are an easy target.

I have no idea why it would be wrong teach to children that homosexuality isn't normal.

People who have a lot of hatred inside them follow these ideals and thats why it wont get taken seriously by the majority of people. You have a right to say what you like but I feel surrounded by people who dont trust Muslims and hate the Polish and feel it is the theway around. Your lot forcing your ideas on me. Yet I dont have to accept them.

Seems to me that your post is just saying you don't like people having different views from you and when they get into power and start changing things away from how you think they should be you really hate it.

I have no problem with people who have different views from me providing that they are well thought out and based on facts.

I must admit I do have a nasty habit of being sarcastic when people start throwing ill thought out unjustified opinions around the place. I must try to curb that

There seem to be a lot of people running around saying that they have a right to their opinon when what they hold is not an opinion but a prejudice
jack-the-peg.

Without being picky what do you mean by your phrase "based on facts".

Is religion, in your argument, based on fact? Because allah lovers are the cause of most hatred in the UK and indeed the world, and all that vile nonsense they believe in is hardly "fact" is it? Subjective belief can surely never be proved!!!
I warned of this, a few weeks ago.
We are now in the last chance saloon.
Only by being constantly vigilant, can we save our site, from the enemy within.
Romeo's post should be a rallying call to us all.

Think thats it.
Loads of liberal posts from you, China Doll.
Fantastic, an opportunity to pontificate my opinion - great my fav sort of posts

1) I agree there is a case for moderating what is shown on tv. I personally wouldn't want accurate recordings of people being killed shown on CBeebies.

2) Yes we should curb immigration. There are loads of people whose views I can not stand - anyone whose opinion does not accord with mine and doesn't directly benefit me - keep them out and I mean even if they are British and have gone on holiday - tough.

3) Have to disagree. Its universal behaviour. You can have the position you do not like it, but can not claim its not normal as its has been with us for all time and always will be.

4) Have to agree with you here. Liberals to an extent but more commonly the loony left are so consumed with the 'rights' of certain groups and protecting these minorities, they attack the powerful majority. There has been an adoption of an offensive whereby any non liberal or lefty is viciously attacked by words. (All the sticks and stones and words nonsense, I have seen literally thousands of people killed instantaneously by calling them racist, sexist homophobic, small minded bigot). The powerful have virtually no defences against these verbal onslaughts. Politics, media, freedom of speech, the local pub and the Internet are all closed, they have no arena to challenge the liberals.

I doubt now anything can be done to stem the tide. Soon all that is known and loved will be dismantled as the liberals and left whingers, sorry ran out of steam - what apocalyptic future is there?????????
Waldo, "Occasionally, a sensible discussion does break out on here, but sadly it normally gets hijacked." From reading through these posts, I think you can honestly say this point you made is proven.
Cheers cambus.

That would have flowed so much better if AB had been working at the time... I'd forgotten about that thread.

Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou Romeo?

It's not much of a debate if the main contender isn't involved.
I think Romeo has probably realised the foolhardiness of his efforts, and retired hurt.
When faced with an onslaught of such hysterically biting satire what else could one do?
Question Author
I used to think 'liberal' meant fair, balanced, moderate, seeing both sides, etc. Not in contemporary Britain, it seems.

In the three examples I give in my original question, I have mixed or moderate views. After expressing them, I am bombarded with accusations of being secretly right wing and even called insulting names..

This EXACTLY proves the point I was trying to make.
i'm sure there's a couple of big grown up words you haven't used Waldo-unfortunately they still won't win the argument for you, but i'm sure you'll keep trying anyway
