As Spudqueen indicates, there's a long thread in 'News', which makes reference to further discussion in 'Chatterbank'.
My personal experience is that I'd just settled back, in bed, to listen to an MP3 recording of an ancient BBC radio show. ('The Men from the Ministry'). I'd got myself propped up with pillows, so that I was sort of wedged into a corner of the room (which is probably a very good place to notice vibrations). I was just starting to doze off when I initially thought that the wind was rattling the window panes but I soon decided that the walls were shaking. Despite having experienced several previous earth tremors, I didn't realise what was happening and I sat bolt upright wondering whether I was hallucinating and thinking that it was possibly some strange symptom of some terrible disease. However, I soon convinced myself that I must have imagined it, and fell asleep. Even so, I found it very reassuring when I heard reports of the earth tremor on Radio 2 this morning ;-)

BTW: I'm in Suffolk, so not that close to the centre of the so-called 'quake'.
